I am in a unique position with this SSLP. I am living at home in Dedham, MA and working for an organization I have volunteered at before. My Brother's Keeper is based in Easton and serves the greater Brockton area by delivering food and furniture to those in need. It is very much a faith-based organization, and its founders, Jim and Terry Orcutt, are quite inspirational. I have been fortunate to work with such loving people. The typical day of work is loading up trucks with furniture, going out into the community to deliver it, stopping elsewhere to pick up more furniture donations, taking a lunch break, and delivering a week's supply of food to 10-15 families in the afternoon. It is hard yet rewarding work and I am loving it two and a half weeks in. |
